The slack line. That's what I was thinking about. I was at Planet Rock, my favorite place to go, and I had been working hard to master the slack line for a couple of weeks. The best I could do was five steps. Not that good. I what's been working on it for about fifteen minutes, during the rock climbing club that I go to. I pulled myself up with two rocks and carefully put my foot on the green line.
I let to of the rocks and lifted up my left foot. The trick is not to think about taking a step, but more shifting your weight from one step to another. So I gently put my left foot down and raised my right off, placing it in front of my left. And again, and again. I did a few more, counting in my head; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6! Yes I broke my record! But I needed to keep going. Slowly, I made it to thirteen. My foot caught underneath the slack line, and I tripped, tumbling off the rope, and on to the ground.
Even though I didn't make it all the way across, I had broken my high score, and did pretty good in my eyes. So I was just happy with that, and waited for my next turn.
