My Reader's Notebook
List and explain three ways that you have improved your writing from the beginning of the year to now…..

One way is that I have learned how to write a formal essay. I learned different transitions, and what the difference is between creative writing and an essay. Another thing I learned was some new words on spelling city. One last thing I learned was how to choose a "just right book" depending on your reading level. I picked The Mysterious Benedict Society for my book.

How has your reading improved this year? Explain.

I have learned how to think more about what you are reading, instead of just powering through it. I now understand the book more. It makes me dissect the plot, understand charachters, and really think about the literary devices. That is the way my reading has improved.

How do you feel about your language arts experience overall this year?

Language Arts is probably my favorite subject. At the beginning of the year, I thought we would just learn the same things as last year. Though we did things I had never heard of, and I accomplished so much more in my reading and writing. There were different styles of writing Mrs.Fitz showed us, and my structure improved greatly with how I think of the organization of the essay.

What is your overall individual goal for this class?

My goal is to get as close as I can to 40 books at the end of the year. It is a tough goal, I don't read as much as I used to, but I think I will be able to get close enough. To accomplish this, I will now try to read more than half an hour every night. I'll install more books onto my Kindle, too, so I can read on the bus or on the go.
