There are many different kinds of bees, including bumble bees, yellow jackets, ground bees, wasps, carpenter bees, hornets, and honey bees. In honey bees, there are three types of honey bees, the workers, the queen, and the drones. It takes about 21 days for an egg to an adult.
The worker honey bee helps in the hive by keeping the hive clean, taking care of the eggs and larva, building combs, collect nectar and turning it into the honey. All worker bee’s our females but they cant reproduce. The Worker bees live for about 4-9 months during the winter season. In the summer they work to death for only six months because of how busy it is. The worker bee takes 21 days to develop from egg to emergence. Each worker bee does specific sequence jobs in their life time: house keeper, nursemaid, construction worker, grocer, undertaker, and guard. after 21 days from emergence a worker bee will start collecting pollen and nectar.
There is usually only one honey bee queen in a hive. The queen only leaves the hive once, to mate and make more honey bees. There is only one queen in the hive. She’s the only one that can reproduce. She live to 3-5 years and lays up to 2,000 eggs a day.
The drone honey bee is a male and can not sting. These honey bees are almost useless. As soon as the drones mate they die. They buzz the loudest in the hive and have the largest eyes. There only job in the hive is to mate. They have really long back legs.
